As with many of Senator Barak Obama's nationwide events, those occurring in the New York area are highly focused on raising money for the future Democratic nominee to the presidency of the United States. Some of the New York events are online yard sales (a bit of an oxymoron), concerts, drinking parties and much else. Of the many events, some caught my attention as being self promotion instead of helpful to the candidate himself. One bar invites patrons to come to drink in the name of Obama. This bar has posted the event, it appears simply to bring in customers for an event that is not really one. It is not clear where the money from the drinking will go that night. It has little to do with anything...

Most of the major attractions are included and in many cases, although not all, you will have fast track access which means you don't wait in line. Lines at some of the events can make you wait an hour or more. If you hit five attractions that each have an average of an hour wait, you've eaten five hours out of your day. I have personally used the pass and convinced the group I...

I run what is in many ways a normal tourists shop, but it has a few important differences. There is a real Californian feel to it, something that appeals to the tourists. They can get a coffee and a sandwich while they are browsing through the various...

You might have seen the Statue of Liberty apparently made to disappear, a magician take to the air seemingly able to fly, or that old favorite, the magician's assistant apparently being sawn in half. We all know that these feats are just illusions, tricks, since New York landmarks don't really disappear, people don't really fly, and a person sawn into two halves can't be joined back together again - but that does not lessen our enjoyment one iota. If anything, knowing something is a trick actually adds to our enjoyment - because we find ourselves asking how was such a...
